UNIT OVERVIEW
Monday and Tuesday- Face to Face Learning 1. Discuss the Career portion of the class 2. If you haven't already, Go to the Reality Check website and do all three sections. http://www.texasrealitycheck.com/ 3. Once you have chosen your career, find 10 local companies you could work for that would give you the skills you need to to the job. 4. Create your database of potential jobs. You will need fields for the Business Name, Business Address, City State Zip, Contact Person, Position. Wednesday - Personalized Learning 1.. Write a Cover Letter (Instructions) inquiring about the open position you want to apply for. Student Sample Thursday and Friday - Formative Assessment 1. Mailmerge letter and database and print mailing labels and return address labels. 2. Type your Resume' 3. Print your application packet (Cover Letter, Resume, Database Record, Mailing Labels, Return Address Labels) and turn in for a TEST Grade Turn in all assignments for daily grades. The Application Packet will be a TEST GRADE. Allow yourself enough time on Friday to post your artifacts on your e-Portfolio (Posting it will be a daily grade). Create a reflection about what you learned by doing this assignment. You may work on your e-Portfolio from home, or ask to come in to my room for tutorials.
